Matters of gender, inclusivity, and equitable access to education form a core section of CERT’s research concerns.

Much of the research at CERT focuses on matters of curriculum implementation, teacher development, and school resource quality and relevance. Issues of class size and monitoring of education are also related concerns.

Among the focal areas of CERT’s research are matters of accountability and governance within education institution structures. This touches on issues of leadership and community participation, as well as the impact of disasters on education institutions.

The research mandate of the Centre also has the financial management of education institutions as an area of focus. Such research touches on matters such as the privatization of education, household financing of schooling and

public expenditure on education. Researchers are also interested in equity in resource allocation among education institutions.
